Owens’ ninth full-length studio project continues her winning streak of in the vein of Rachel Platten or Katy Perry. Producers Rusty Varenkamp, Chad Copelin, and Josh Bronleewe move her singer/songwriter compositions into realms of technopop, trance, and EDM. Owens’ vocals carry a hint of Leigh Nash’s wispy, waifish drawl. The optimistic and clearly Christian lyrics point us to find our meaning in God rather than our own opinions and perceptions. Collaborators include All Sons & Daughters, “Big Daddy” Mike Weaver, Andrew Greer, and Ellie Holcomb. Standout tracks: The synth driven “Coming Alive,” nearly acapella “God Is Love,” and the Jason Mraz-like “I Was Made for Loving You,” which strips back to solo electric guitar and harmonies with indie producer Andrew Bergthold.
